Student Council This year for our student council we have 10 students on the committee. We have Kristen Timmerman as President and Leandra Timmerman as Vice-President. Dylan Earle is Treasurer. For our grade 5 class reps there are Shayna Timmerman and Shaylyn Mangin. For our grade 6 reps there are Breann Forbes and Devon Wilson. For our grade 7 reps there are Kantara Robertson and Brannon Mangin. In grade 8 our reps are Colin Knockaert and Haley Ackroyd. So far throughout the 2009-2010 year our student council committee has helped plan dances and spirit days. The committee has also set up a sports night in which we invited Holland Elementary School to attend. We are also trying to plan another sports night and some more dances. Over all the year has had lots of activities and fun. We hope next year it will be just as fun if not more fun. See you next year! By: Kristen Timmerman and Leandra Timmerman |
Sports Corner At Treherne Elementary we continue to believe in the high value of our co-curricular activities. We recognize participation of students in a variety of activities outside the regular class is vital to the development of well-rounded children and is instrumental in the building of school spirit. TES offers a wide range of activities. All the staff has some connection or involvement with our co-curricular program. Many give their time to more than one area. Their sacrifice and commitment are greatly appreciated. During lunch hour students may join a number of intramural sports during the year. This is not an elite program. Every student in middle years is encouraged to participate. Attendance and participation are encouraged and rewarded. The following is a summary of these activities.

The Arts Treherne Elementary continues to promote the Arts in a number of different ways. Each year the Drama Club in Grades 6 – 8 present their annual production. Music is taught from K – 6 by Mrs. Bazin. The 7 – 8 Choir is offered as an extra-curricular activity. Art taught at our school by Mrs. Lee for Grades 1-8 includes experiencing many types of media used in painting, drawing and sculpture. We showcase student work at the Festival of the Arts. Our students make placemats every year for the Volunteer Appreciation Night and display art at the Health Auxiliary Fun Fair held in the fall. Every year we host an artist in the school. Past artists have been: 2000-01 – Jamie Oliviero, 2001-02 – Bob King, 2002-03 – Bud Gillies (The completed clay tile mosaics are on display in the main hallway of our school and on the wall by the Kindergarten room.) 2003-04 – Mark Cameron, 2005-06 – Evans Coffie, 2006-07 – Ofield Williams, 2007-08 – Stan Lesk – 2008-09 – Marianne Gopalkrishna, 2009-10 – Judy Cook. Dance is taught at all levels in our P.E. program. In the past a multi-generational dance program took place between some of the grandparents from the community and the Grade 5 & 6 class. A family dance was the culminating activity. Our “Dance in the Park” is a very popular event in June where all of the students showcase dances they have learned throughout the year. |

Choir The Gr. 5-8 Choir group is a small group of volunteers who meets with Mrs. Bazin at recess and noon hours to prepare for special occasions such as Remembrance Day, Christmas Concert and Festival. We like to incorporate drums, handbells, and lots of creativity into our projects. |
